What do I do between school and the festival starting?
Herne Fest starts at 4pm: the festival site is not accessible before this time. Please pop home and get changed or wait beside the running track, or come and collect your tokens before 4pm from the bottom gate. Dylan’s ice cream van will be in the playground after school (they take cash or card)!
We recommend children meet parents/carers in the bottom field. Children MUST be supervised by an adult at all times at Herne Fest!
How do I get in and collect my tokens?
Beat the queues and pre-pay for your tokens! Tokens will be available online until Wednesday 12 June at 9pm.
Your pre-paid tokens will be available for collection from 3.15 from the entrance gate at the bottom of the field. Once you have collected an envelope of tokens, you will then hand in one token per person for entry.
If you haven’t pre-paid then you can purchase tokens at the entrance gate by card only. There will be a separate area to do this and it may get congested, so please be patient.
Tokens are non-refundable. If you have any left when you leave, please share with others or hand in to any stall.
How do I buy stuff?
The festival is almost cashless. All HAFS activities take tokens (except circus skills and bubbles, which are free). The cake stall and ice cream van take card or cash and the Herne students craft stall takes cash only.
Activities are 1 or 2 tokens, soft drinks are 1 token, alcoholic drinks are 3 tokens and food is 3 to 4 tokens.
More tokens can be bought from the small playground during Herne Fest.
How do I get first aid?
There is a first aid point at the Herne Hideout.
Where can I find lost children / property?
Lost children and property will be taken to the Herne Hideout.
Can I come to Herne Fest without a grown up?
No! Sorry, all children must be supervised by an adult. Children entering alone will be stopped and asked to wait at the gate for an adult to supervise them.
Neither HAFS or Herne school can be responsible for children attending this closed event outside of school hours.
How do I get to Herne Fest? Can I park?
There is no parking onsite, except 2 disabled spaces. There is strictly no access to the festival via Love Lane, this is for emergency access only. Please enter via the lower gate from Hoadlands road.
Who can come to Herne Fest?
Herne Fest is for Herne pupils and their families and friends, and those of incoming pupils currently in year 2.
Where is the money going?
Money raised goes to the school for activities and equipment for its students. The event is coordinated by HAFS volunteers with the support of the school.
Will there be a photographer?
Yes, there will be a photographer onsite and we will share details of where you can see the photos. Please be patient, it will take at least 3 working days to see the photos.
Photographs taken may be used in school newsletters, this website and local media.
If you do not want your child’s photograph to be taken, please collect a wrist band from the token station which will identify them easily so our photographer can avoid them in group shots.
